Pear and Prosciutto Pizza

This is a wonderful new take on a fantastic sweet and savory pizza. It will wow your guests with the bursts of flavor it contains.

Ingredients -

6 Cloves Garlic
1/2 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Ripe Pears, halved and cored
1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
All-Purpose Flour, for dusting
1 Unbaked Pizza Crust
1 Tablespoon Cornmeal, for dusting
6 Ounces Swiss Cheese, shredded
5 Thin Slices Prosciutto, cut into halves
1 Package Fresh Mozzarella, (6 ounce), cut into small cubes
Salt, to taste
Fresh Ground Black Pepper, to taste
1/2 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

 
Preparation:
    1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
    2. Place the garlic in a small square of aluminum foil.
    3. Drizzle 1/2 tablespoon of the olive oil over the garlic.
    4. Wrap the foil around garlic and seal.
    5. Roast the garlic in the preheated oven until soft which takes about 20 minutes.
    6. Smash the roasted cloves with a fork.
    7. Place the pears in a bowl with 1 tablespoon the extra virgin olive oil.
    8. Toss to coat.
    9. Arrange the pear slices on a baking sheet.
    10. Bake in the hot oven until soft which takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
    11. Raise the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
    12. Preheat a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.
    13. Lightly dust a clean flat surface with flour.
    14. Roll the prepared pizza crust dough out onto the floured surface.
    15. Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal.
    16. Lay the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
    17. Spread the mashed garlic onto the dough and top with the Swiss cheese.
    18. Arrange the pears, prosciutto, and mozzarella cheese onto the pizza.
    19. Season with salt and pepper.
    20. Brush the edges of the crust with the 1/2 tablespoon olive oil.
    21. Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown which takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

If you are running out of time, substitue the uncooked pizza crust with an already made pizza crust. They can usually be found in the bread isle at your local supermarket.
